How can you find Mr/Mrs Right if you are avoiding all emails who offer friendship?? Is friendship not an important roll in building a strong marital relationship?? For someone to get so perturbed over others offering a simple friendly welcome to the site is amazing to me. How can one be so bitter and annoyed at an email like this?? Is it really a major inconvience to send a "thank you" smile?? Perhaps if you were a little more open to friends and the gentle kindness of the spirit of Jesus, your perfect mate would come along. Or perhaps you should make it known in your profile you are not interested in friendly notes of any kind. And as for ministering, this site and the wonderful people on it do minister to many every day. Just because you have failed to see that or make use of it does not take away from this fact. And a simple "thank you" would suffice to let a friendly face know you appreciate their welcome. At a very low point in my life, the birthday greetings I recieved from several members on this site who I had never spoken to, and their kind words gave me encouragement to have hope and hold onto my faith. Don't put others ministries down just because they don't immediately effect you. Other people live in this world, and although you may think it does, this site and this world does not revolve around you.

  MEN and WOMEN of GOD

I wanted to encourage you MEN and WOMEN OF GOD to consider this: In this world FULL of wolves in sheeps clothing, we are supposed to encourage each other in the family of God. The difference between a man/woman of the world, and a MAN/WOMAN of GOD is shown in his actions. You will know them by their fruit. Just remember to be sensitive toward YOUR SISTERS/BROTHERS in Christ. If you are not interested in them, PLEASE don't just blow them off like a worldly man/woman does, be an encouragement. Don't forget-YOUR SISTERS/BROTHERS in Christ are the DAUGHTERS/SONS of the SAME GOD you are asking for companionship from. Maybe how you treat your SISTERS/BROTHERS in Christ is a test, to see if you are READY, and WORTHY of the WIFE/HUSBAND the LORD has for you. Please don't be guilty of an example that would make a person turn back to the world for comfort. We are all on different Spiritual levels of maturity. Most of all please be mindful that the WORLD watches VERY closely those who call themselves CHRISTIAN, waiting for them to stumble. Let the LIGHT of CHRIST SHINE through your words, actions, and deeds. Remember- no man comes to GOD except THROUGH Jesus. (salvation/born again) This is a free gift-but you must ask God for it, because God is a gentleman, and will not force it on you. Forever in Christ. . . Spiritdancer

  Male Perfect Match Preferences
Reply to Topic
Submitted Anonymously

It seems like a lot of the men here don't care much about filling out their Perfect Match Preferences. This is only hurting you guys, because I look at that to see if you care enough to fill that out. Why do I think you should? Because it tells me that you know what you are really comfortable with and what you aren't. It also tells me that you care about standards. It's one thing to have standards of your own, but when you show me that you have standards in what you look for in a woman, you show me that you are worthy my time. Why? Because, if I married you, and you didn't have any standards, for one, you wouldn't appreciate me as much, and for another, you would be more prone to run out and have an affair with just anybody who has no standards for herself.

Please fill out your Perfect Match Preferences!

I've also noticed that when men here contact me, they don't bother to look at my Perfect Match Preferences, even though I said to in my Comments. Guys, it might be a good idea to do that when checking out a woman's profile, because it might tell you whether you ought to contact her or not.

Just some tips.

To AKgracealone (cool name, btw) and anyone who will listen...

A couple thoughts (borrowed from Harriet McBryde Johnson's opinions article):

1. Terri Schaivo's situation was not about end-of-life conversation at all. She was not terminally ill. The situation, therefore, was about whether or not to kill her by starvation and dehydration. [Also interesting to note is the fact that THOUSANDS of people with various significant disabilities have progressive illness which seizes upon their muscularity in their throats and necks, requiring them to receive their food and water through a tube - it's a very simple apparatus and is not some giant heroic device - these are mothers, fathers, college students, and top executives of companies - believe me b/c I know them personally].
2. Ms. Schaivo was not on life-support. All her major organs worked completely fine. Again, this was about removing the means by which she ate and drank - and again, understand that THOUSANDS of people with disabilities rely on these same measures every day to live their VERY VIABLE, VERY VALUABLE lives.
3. This wasn't about refusing treatment. Eating and drinking are not treatment. Even if they were deemed "treatment," Ms. Schaivo was incapable of articulating her "refusal."
4. Let's assume those who argue that she was completely unconscious and had no chance of rehabilitation are correct - then Ms. Schaivo was completely unaware of her surroundings and therefore this could NOT have been about ending her suffering.
5. If Terri Schaivo was conscious on some level, we cannot assume that her decisions (if she did in fact ever make them, which is still in dispute) regarding treatments in these situations were still valid - many many people with disabilities who acquired them after birth abdandon their notions of life with disability once they have one - if we assume she was not conscious, then we cannot presume death was her preference b/c she could not articulate a preference.
6. Terri Schaivo, conscious or not, like any other person, has a constitutional right to not have been deprived her life without due process of law.
7. In addition to that right, she also had the right under the Americans with Disabilities Act not to be treated any differently on account of her disability.

It is sad that in a country that reflects on their historical trek through civil rights, acknowledging that regretfully, there was a day when people were respected on the basis of the color of their skin or their sex alone.... that we cannot now recognize the same plight faced by those with disabilities.... and realize that disability is a natural part of the human experience.... and that disability is NOT a fate worse than death.
