The Gates Of Hell Cannot Prevail Against God's Shadow

"The famous Zaman tree in Venezuela, though not unusual in height or girth, had an enormous branch spread which yielded a shade with a circumference of 614 feet(and every bough was festooned with orchids). A sycamore in Indiana with a height of 150 feet and a girth of over 42 feet has been called the largest shade tree in America.
Far better than the shade afforded by either of these notable trees is the shadow of the almighty God..." - Illustrations From Nature

Did it ever occur to you that Satan comes against us with mighty weapons of destruction - ...principalities...
...powers...
...spiritual wickedness in high places...
...rulers of the darkness of this world...
...sword...
...spear...
...shield...
...fiery darts...
...physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual assaults...
and God protects us with something as thin, light, and piercing as a shadow?

All of Satan's weapons of mass destruction cannot prevail against the Shadow of the Almighty!

For - you see - that "shadow" represents the awesome presence of God Himself.
Satan never has been and never will be a match for the Living Son of God!

Oh, Child of God, are you facing turbulent weather in your walk with the Lord?
Are you experiencing the extremes of hot and cold or wet and dry...
violent tempests and winds as well as the intolerable heat of the burning spiritual desert?
Do troubles, dangers, and temptations beset you?
Are you surrounded by threatening and alarming perils, calamity and oppression?
Are you feeling tired and weary from it all?
Then this message is for you!

God has made provision for our release and relief from the stormy conditions in which we find ourselves today. He has provided a place of refuge and protection to which we can run and hide and be sheltered from the assaults of the enemy - who is bent on destroying our souls.

We are safe and warm in Jesus!
He is our One and Only Shelter in the storm.

One thing the devil wants us to believe is that he is in control and is going to win the battle at hand.
He does not want us to be aware of God's provision and protection for our safety.

He wants us to concentrate on our own weaknesses against such a relentless foe.
The last thing he wants is for us to get our focus on the Lord Jesus and all that He is and has provided for us.

The purpose of this message is to inform and equip the saints and to make the devil mad. By the Truth set forth here, may the believers be set free from all fears, and may the devil cry to see it happen.

Glory! Glory! Glory!

Let's examine four different manifestations of God's Presence - provided for His children - and let's allow the Holy Spirit to bless and uplift our souls while doing so.

1. A Cloud

Exodus 13:21 - "And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way..."
Isaiah 4:5 - "And the LORD will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day...for upon all the glory shall be a defence.

The "pillar of a cloud" is a symbol for the Divine Presence of God. In the wilderness, it was a visible reminder to the children of Israel that God Almighty was with them - protecting and keeping them.

The "pillar of a cloud" stood over the tabernacle. It was a constant reminder that God was their protector and defense against their enemies.

In Isaiah 4:5, the Lord promises to "create" - furnish, afford, and bring over - the same "cloud" to overshadow each and every one of our tabernacles or homes as protection against the forces of evil.

2. A Shadow

Isaiah 25:4 - "For Thou hast been...a shadow from the heat..."
Isaiah 4:6 - "And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat..."
Isaiah 32:2 - "And a man shall be as...the shadow of a great rock in a weary land."
Psalm 121:5 - "The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand."

In the scorching, intense heat of summer or while walking through an unbearably, hot desert - nothing is more welcome than a place of "shade" or shelter.

God has provided such a cool and refreshing place in His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

This world is likened unto a burning desert of sand - destitute of any life - where the weary travelers find no refreshment, shelter, and relief. Jesus is their One and Only place of refuge or hiding-place. He is the huge, far-projecting Rock - offering refreshment and cool shade to all those who are fatigued from the difficulties and dangers about them.

"The LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand" - The "right hand" is the working hand. It denotes the place of protection.

Also, the direction of South is considered by some to be "the right hand." Coming from this area are the most intense rays of the sun. Hence, "the shade upon thy right hand" would be a dire necessity when facing such heat.

Offering shade, solace, and refreshment to our souls - Jesus is the "shade" upon our "right hand" - the place where the heat of the battle is most felt and observed.

3. A Covert

Isaiah 4:6 - "And there shall be a tabernacle...for a covert from storm and from rain."
Isaiah 32:2 - "And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest..."

A "covert" is any safe and secure place of retreat from the violent winds, rain, storm, and tempest which are emblematic of calamities and oppression.

Jesus is the "man" Who "shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest." All we have to do is run to Him, and He will keep us safe from all harm.

4. His Wings

Psalm 17:8 - "...hide me under the shadow of Thy wings."
Psalm 36:7 - "How excellent is Thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Thy wings."
Psalm 57:1 - "Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me; for my soul truste
