Send Mail Spam Prohibitor - Oct. 24
We have received numerous comments and complaints that SOME members tend to
send out mass mailings to members, rather than actually taking the time to view the
profile and write something meaningful to the member. These people send a form letter, rather
than a personal mail.
It has only been within the last year that we added the SEND MAIL and SEND SMILE links to the
Mini Profiles. It has been suggested that having these links within the Mini Profile
Search Results makes it easy for members to mass mail people, without giving it any thought, and I agree.
I receive smiles all the time from people who never bothered to read that I am married, 48 years old, and own the site!
Rather than removing these links from the search results, these links will now take the member to the profile, allowing them to view the
profile, and encouraging them to read it, find something of interest, and create a personal mail.
When using a SEND MAIL link from within Search results, the top of the profile will now read:
Please
READ Nannette's PROFILE before sending mail! Find something of interest,
comment on what you like about their profile, ask a question, and tell briefly
about yourself! Take the time to review their Preferences.
This will also slow down and discourage any mass mailers or spammers as well.
If you are a "mass mailer" - please be aware, people just flag your mails for deletion!
If
you are a free trial member or paid member, please don't waste your time sending smiles! Those
are for free basic members who don't have the privilege of sending text. Members want to READ
a personal mail from you, not receive another smile image that they've probably already received
hundreds of times from other mass smilers.

New Hardware - Oct. 20

Reporting Scammers, Abusive Members, etc. - Oct. 14
When reading a mail from a member, if it is a scam mail that has gotten past our detection
system, or if the member is rude, abusive, or inappropriate for a Christian site, you may
use a new link to report the mail. The link is below the From: and their alias name area...
Is this a Scam Mail or Inappropriate? Click here to report it!
Please do not use this to report those who have written to you who are outside of your
preferences or your same gender. We have many friendly folks on our site, male and female,
who say hello to one another and being friendly does not make one gay; happy maybe. ;) If
they're not in your age range, or otherwise, just simply send a polite response or ignore them.
Mail Me A Copy - Oct. 12
When reading a mail you have sent or received, you will now see a button labeled "MAIL ME A COPY."
Use that button to send a copy of the online mail to your personal email address that you have
listed with us. Make sure we are not blocked or that your mails are not routed to a spam or
bulk folder. A copy of the mail, along with the member's mini profile, will be sent to you.
After you send a mail to a member, this button will display on the next page, so we will
no longer need the carbon copy checkbox, which I will remove shortly.
Fixed Saved Search Bug - Oct. 10
Thanks to LucyPearl
for pointing out that unchecking the Match Notifications box in the CUSTOM SEARCH was not
saving the change to stop mailing Match Notifications. This is now fixed.
Search Limitation Increased to 500 - Oct. 10
We have moved to a new server with more speed and much more RAM. As a result, we
have increased our search results limitation from 200 to 500 results.
NEW SCAM REPORTS
We have added a new SCAM REPORTS
forum where I will add information on the latest scammers. Please become familiar with their
ploys so that you can be protected. This is another reason why we have a reputation for being the
safest singles site on the web... we warn and protect our members. To find the forum, click the
POSTS
tab and the
SCAM REPORTS link in the blue
nav bar.
NEW PHOTOS
From the SEARCH tab, select the
NEW PHOTOS
link to
view the last 200 photos uploaded. Click the NEXT PAGE link to go
to additional pages. Click the photo to view it actual size in a new window. Click the VIEW PROFILE link to
view the member's profile in a new window. Your browser must be setup to allow opening of new
windows in another window.
I've noticed that a few folks will upload the same image over and over. I'm wondering
if the purpose is to show up in the VIEWED W/ NEW PHOTOS list. We frown on this as
it adds more work for us to resize and logoize yet again. So please do not do this
or we might just remove your photo entirely.
If you do not like the way we are cropping your image, make sure that it is submitted
as a 225w x 330h pixel image to begin with, and less than 15,000 byte size. As our rule of
thumb, members want to see you; not scenery or your friends. We will focus on your upper
body for a clear facial image as well, especially on primary images. If you have secondary
images and have a close-up primary image, we will be more leniant about allowing full body
shots.
For site performance issues, we are resizing all photos to be less than 15,000 bytes
and fit within 300 pixels high by 225 pixels wide. This will speed the performance of the
site by allowing pages to load more quickly and will utilize less CPU usage on the web server.
We have been working night and day reworking our photos, and have less than half completed at
this point.
For security purposes, we are adding our ChristianSinglesDating.com or Christian911.com logo
to the bottom of all images. (The Christian911.com logo is added for very small images.)
The reason this adds to security is, many scammers go to web sites and copy an image to upload
on singles sites. They typically go to modeling sites and obtain model photos. We want
to discourage these scammers from using our member photos by including our logo. They
aren't going to want to use our photos since they are "marked."
Once an image has been resized and logoed, when viewing a profile, if it is originally
smaller than the typical thumbnail displayed, it will be displayed at actual size, rather
than stretched to fit the thumbnail height.
NEW MAIL FEATURES
Mails To / Mails From
When sending and reading mails, there is now a link that allows you to click and view
mails sent to that person or mails sent from that person. If you wish to open the list
in a different screen, RIGHT CLICK the link and select OPEN IN NEW WINDOW.

Spyware, Ad Popups and How to Eradicate!
My daughter hit our website on her laptop and was inundated with
pop-up ads of singles websites. We did NOT display them for her.
She had somehow gotten spyware loaded on her laptop. We used
spysweeper and adaware, both catching and eradicating hundreds
of problems. It appeared to be gone, but a few hours later, those
popups were back. If you are having popup problems, WE are not
sending them to you. Try this free program. Go to
Lava Soft and in the left
menu, select the DOWNLOADS link. Then in the first paragraph,
click the "freeware*" link. You may download a free version there.
It will get rid of a lot of junk on your computer and may help you
clear up any problems, and it is a free version. If you need
further help, find a good friend who knows more than you do! ;)
Speaking of help... Once in a while, (okay, a lot), I need help
with computer issues and rather than searching all over the world
and muddling through thousands of results that didn't apply to my
situation, I tried out a site: Experts-Exchange. Let me tell you, the monthly
fee is so cheap that it has paid for itself over and over based
on what I would have paid for technical support from any one of
my software vendors or application techs, etc. Most topics are
on computers, hardware, application, operating systems, programming,
etc., but there is also help for games, and anything else. I even
asked for help on my dishwasher! And if you become an expert and
help others, you can earn points so that you don't have to pay the membership fee.
I highly recommend checking it out if you're like
me and you tend to need a lot of assistance with a lot of things.
I won't tell you who I am on there, because I don't want anyone to know how dumb I really am. ;)
